The beginning...

Cambridge University Brass Band was set up in 1987, as an entirely student-run and self-funded university society. Since its early days, the band has enjoyed large membership, and has attracted high quality brass players from all over the country. The society's aim was, and remains, to promote the unique music and musicianship enjoyed in a traditional brass band. This has …

Sidney Sussex College was the venue for the first CUBB Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony, on 23rd April 1998. Anyone who is anyone in the CUBB world was there, and it was certainly a night to remember. A five course meal was served, accompanied by a selection of fine wines, and intelligent(!) conversation.

The third CUBB Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony was again held at Sidney Sussex College, as is becoming traditional. We enjoyed a fabulous five-course meal, the menu of which is included below, and a few glasses of wine (much less than we paid for; ask Gareth why...). Despite the lack of alcohol with the meal, the port began to flow during the dessert and many of us managed to catch up in the bar afterwards, so all was not lost. After dinner, Mike Tildesley, Steve Arnold and Paul Davis presente…

In a highly controversial break with tradition, the fourth CUBB Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony was not held at Sidney Sussex College, but rather in the hallowed surroundings of Peterhouse Upper Hall. This bold move was complemented by excellent food and plenty of wine, and the meal was enjoyed by all. After dinner Tom Price and Paul Davis presented the Annual CUBB Awards in recognition of outstanding “achievements” throughout the preceding year. See below for the full list of awards.
